Catalytic co-pyrolysis of biomass and waste plastics as a route to upgraded bio-oil
نویسندگان
چکیده
A two-stage reactor system consisting of co-pyrolysis biomass and plastic in the 1st stage catalytic upgrading (zeolite ZSM-5 catalyst) derived pyrolysis gases 2nd was used to investigate yield composition product bio-oil. Biomass waste wood plastics form high density polyethylene, low polypropylene, polystyrene polyethylene terephthalate were as feedstock. The addition with co-pyrolysis-catalysis, produced a higher CnHm gas compared what would be expected by calculation, suggesting some interaction plastic. presence resulted decrease relative proportion oxygenated compounds oil alone; for example reduction >65% polypropylene >95% polystyrene. fuel properties upgraded improved example, showed an C5 ― C12 range (76%). In terms ratio plastic, even quantities (9:1 biomass:plastic ratio) lower bio-oil compounds, biomass:polystyrene at 9:1 reduced >55%.

Upgrading of Pyrolysis Bio-oil: A Review
The increase in the population of the planet and the rapid economic growth and, consequently, the high consumption of energy has created many environmental problems in the globe. Due to these reasons and the lack of renewability of these fossil fuels, there has been a steep trend towards the production of renewable fuels from natural sources, one of which is the production of energy from biomas...
متن کاملPlasma pyrolysis and gasification of plastics waste – a review
Plasma pyrolysis integrates thermo-chemical properties of plasma using pyrolysis process for safe disposal of solid wastes. It is an environment friendly technology to generate valuable byproducts by converting municipal solid waste, biomedical waste and hazardous wastes at 800-1000°C. Plasma Pyrolysis of plastic wastes generates pyrolysis gas, which can be utilized for energy recovery via diff...
متن کاملKinetics of biomass catalytic pyrolysis.
The Coats-Redfern method was used to analyze the kinetic characteristics of biomass catalytic pyrolysis, indicating that it can be described by multi-step reactions, rather than as a simple first-order reaction. Friedman model-free calculations were used to describe the starting reaction types and the corresponding initial kinetic parameters. Finally, nonlinear regression of biomass catalytic p...
متن کاملEnhancing biochar yield by co-pyrolysis of bio-oil with biomass: impacts of potassium hydroxide addition and air pretreatment prior to co-pyrolysis.
The influence of KOH addition and air pretreatment on co-pyrolysis (600 °C) of a mixture of bio-oil and biomass (aspen wood) was investigated with the goal of increasing biochar yield. The bio-oil was produced as a byproduct of the pyrolysis of biomass and recycled in subsequent runs. Co-pyrolysis of the biomass with the recycled bio-oil resulted in a 16% mass increase in produced biochar. The ...
